In 2023 New York State passed the Build Public Renewables Act that authorized our only public utility, the New York Power Authority, to build renewable energy source where the private sector is falling short. NYPA has now published a draft of its plan, but it, too, falls far short of what we need. NYPA will take comments from the public until December 13. The Tonawanda Seneca Nation live on their sovereign territory, which is located between Rochester and Buffalo in western New York. Allies of the Tonawanda Seneca Nation are joining with the Nation to defend their unceded homelands from a massive industrial development project sited on the boundary of their reservation territory. The “Iroquois Pipeline Company” wants to drastically increase the amount of gas they push through their 37-year-old fossil gas pipeline running from the Canadian border to Long Island and NYC. They are seeking a permit to double the size of four toxic and noisy gas compressor stations that have long polluted disadvantaged, working-class communities in Dover and Athens, NY. This permit MUST be denied!

Fossil fuel company Enbridge wants to expand its fracked gas infrastructure along the AIM pipeline that runs through New York.
