Help bring climate Halloween to life!

On October 30th, the day before Halloween, a parade of giant puppets will descend on the Old Stone House in Park Slope to animate a story of climate change, destruction (fires! storms!), and regrowth.

350Brooklyn is partnering with the Old Stone House, talented puppet-maker Theresa Linnihan, Sunrise Kids NYC, and Park Slope Parents to bring this Halloween pageant to life, and we need a number of volunteers to help make it a reality!

The show will serve to underline the urgency of climate action and will be a great opportunity to recruit for 350Brooklyn as well as introduce people to climate activism.

We hope this will be a project that will be as fun and interesting as it is impactful!

Puppet Making Workshops – 10/16 & 10/23

Participate in the making of 9 large puppet trees that are flourishing on one side and burning skeletons on the other. You will learn from a master puppet-maker on how to construct a giant puppet. No experience necessary! Please sign up even if you can only attend one of the workshops. (Oh and also, 350Brooklyn will get to keep some of the trees for future rallies or other events!)

Both workshops will take place in a covered outdoor area by the Old Stone House (5th ave & 3rd street in Park Slope)

Oct 23rd 10-1pm

Table with 350Brooklyn & Sunrise Kids on 10/30

We’re also looking for volunteers to staff a table at the event. Do you have an hour or two? First timers welcome! We will gather signups and also engage children in a kid-friendly action (eg writing/drawing postcards to representatives) that will be prepared beforehand.

I can help!

Adopt a tree puppet

If you would like to donate (any amount!) to the building of a tree you can do so here. Please write something about puppets in the message so we know what the donation is for!

And, finally, if you have a dry space to store one (or more!) trees, or know of a space where we could store them, we’d really love to hear from you!

Enjoy the pageant!

The Neighborhood of Trees puppet pageant is suitable for all ages and will start at 1pm at the Old Stone House (5th ave & 3rd st, Brooklyn). Spread the word!

Families may enjoy starting the festivities at the Open Streets on 5th ave between Carroll and President. Rollie Pollie Guacamole will be playing and some stores will have activites. A short Halloween parade will kick off at noon and head up towards the Old Stone House in time for the pageant!
